FaceCheck.ID is a reverse face search. You upload a photo. It tries to find that face on social profiles, blogs, news sites, and other pages it has indexed. Each hit carries a confidence band:
- 90 to 100: certain match
- 83 to 89: confident
- 70 to 82: uncertain
- 50 to 69: weak
Those bands are the most useful thing on the site. Use them. A weak match is a different person until proven otherwise.
What they index, and the tone problem
The marketing is aimed at people who want to check a date, a seller, or a stranger against mugshots, news photos, and scam reports. That pitch is why I hesitate to recommend the product in the same breath as PimEyes. The underlying job (find other photos of this face) is real. The surrounding copy wants you to treat a face search as a character verdict.
The site itself says many unrelated people look alike, that internet information can be wrong, and that scammers steal photos of innocent people. Listen to that paragraph. Ignore the rest of the fear copy.
When I use it
When I want a second engine after PimEyes, especially if I think the face appeared on social or in news coverage. PimEyes says it skips social platforms. FaceCheck leans into them. Running both is cheaper than believing either one.
A face search is a lead generator. The Gem test is “would I stake a paid hour on the first result.” Here I would not.
